Meet Bryan Nicholson

Bryan Nicholson has been involved in the gambling niche for his whole adult life and in truth, even longer than that! Bryan has expertise in all areas of gambling including online casinos, physical casinos, sports betting and poker. He has authored two books on the subject.

Bryan kind of fell into the world of content writing in the iGaming space back around 2009 when he became head of golf betting for the Unibet blog. This came about after he started his own hugely popular blog where he previewed and tipped on two of his loves: football and golf, hoping to help inform others.

Having grown up in a gambling circle and frequented amusements (casinos) since he was just a lad, Bryan always found himself intrigued about the topic. He has since dedicated his life to wagering, sports and gaming online in one form or another and has been using his wealth of knowledge to write about gambling for the best part of 20 years now.

Q&A with Bryan Nicholson

  • What started you off in the gambling space?

I was always fascinated with both numbers and sports and my grandfather used to take me with him to bookmakers and amusements as a kid. Things just escalated from there and I can now combine my love of numbers, sports and gaming.

  • Which casino game would you recommend?

I like table games like blackjack, roulette and different variants of poker as they are lower variance with minimal house edge.

  • What's the best/worst tip you've ever gotten?

A friend of mine once said “it’s 50/50, you either win or you lose!” It’s not.

  • What's the worst bet you've ever made?

All my bets are based on maths and this is very important. I try to emphasise this in all my educational and tipping content.

  • What’s a fun fact people might not know about you?

I get as much joy writing betting content as I do winning money placing bets!

If that’s not enough, I was once asked over to the DP World Tour golf HQ at Wentworth to film pilot video content, and called “Bryanstradamus” live on air on Sky Sports by “Radar” Wayne Riley!

  • What's an often-overlooked feature that can make or break an online casino?

I think bonuses and promotions are very important for your expected value at online casinos. The more bonuses the better but be careful to make sure you can easily meet all the terms, conditions, and wagering requirements.

  • How do you stay up to date on industry news?

Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and other online social platforms tend to keep me up to speed with the latest happenings in the iGaming world.
