Sphere Entertainment Co. this week announced a milestone celebration for The Wizard of Oz at Sphere. The immersive experience marks its first anniversary after debuting on Aug 28, 2025. More than 3.6 million guests have attended performances at the Las Vegas venue, and ticket sales surpassed $450 million during the show's opening year. Sphere will host special activations for guests from Aug 10 through Sept 30. The celebration honors the production's early success while welcoming new visitors. Executives credit both first-time attendees and longtime fans for the achievement.

The Wizard of Oz at Sphere: A Global Destination

The Wizard of Oz at Sphere has become a global destination in its first year. Guests have traveled from all 50 states and more than 140 countries to see Dorothy's story reimagined in Las Vegas. The production has staged more than 850 times over the past year. Jen Koester, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sphere, said the response has continued to exceed expectations.

Millions of guests worldwide, she said, have experienced the story in a "transformative new way."

She added that first-time visitors and lifelong fans have both created new memories at the show.

Anniversary Activations, Menu, and Ticket Details

Sphere will mark the anniversary with exclusive in-venue activations. The celebration runs from Aug 10 through Sept 30. Guests who attend performances during this window will enjoy special extras, including Golden Apple Drops and interactive photo moments. Sphere also introduced a limited-time anniversary food and beverage menu featuring commemorative popcorn boxes and specialty cups.

The show debuted in collaboration with several key partners. Sphere Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus all contributed to the production. Tickets are available now through Sphere's official website.

Sphere's Technology Behind the Wizard of Oz Magic

Sphere's immersive format relies on massive technical infrastructure. The venue features a 160,000-square-foot LED display surrounding audiences. Sphere Immersive Sound delivers audio through more than 167,000 speakers. Haptic seating and large-scale 4D effects heighten the physical sensations. Together, these elements have produced striking totals over the show's first year. More than 675,000 apples have fallen during performances. The production has also included 8,000 butterfly flights and 3,200 winged monkey flights. Crews have blown roughly 6,500 pounds of leaves across the venue. These effects immerse audiences directly inside the story of Oz.

The scale marks a first for Sphere's original productions. Officials say the technology will continue shaping future immersive projects at the venue, including an enhanced 2.0 version of the show, set to debut in September.
