John Mayer Sphere Residency Set as Wizard of Oz Tops $500M

John Mayer will headline six nights at the Las Vegas Sphere in April 2027. He announced the residency on Monday, September 28. The news came three days after Sphere Entertainment announced that The Wizard of Oz had topped $500 million in ticket sales.

Both announcements point to strong demand at the Las Vegas venue. Mayer's shows run April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18. VIP tickets and travel packages go on sale Wednesday, September 30. The artist presale follows on October 7.

John Mayer's First Sphere Residency: Show Formats and Tickets

Each show will feature three formats: solo, full band, and the John Mayer Trio with Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino.

The run marks Mayer's first Sphere residency under his own name. He previously played the venue during Dead & Company's 2024 and 2025 residencies.

Announcing the dates on social media, Mayer wrote, "I can't wait to show you what I'm putting together."

Registration for the artist presale is open at johnmayer.com, and sales start October 7 at 10 a.m. PT. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, October 9, at 10 a.m. PT, through Ticketmaster. VIP tickets and Vibee travel packages go on sale earlier, on September 30 at 10 a.m. PT. Each Vibee package includes a concert ticket and a two-night stay at The Venetian Resort. Tickets start at $129.

Wizard of Oz at Sphere Tops $500 Million, Adds New 4D Effects

Sphere Entertainment announced the Oz milestone on September 25. The Wizard of Oz at Sphere has passed half a billion dollars in ticket sales. More than 4 million tickets have been sold since its August 28, 2025, debut.

The company also unveiled expanded 4D effects for the show, including animatronic Winged Monkeys, themed aromas, scented apples, fireworks, and "Glinda Glitter."

Sphere Adds Rocky Horror and New Venues as Stock Hits a Record

Mayer's residency arrives as Sphere expands its lineup. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is set to open there in 2027. Sphere Studios will adapt the 1975 cult classic for the venue's wraparound LED screen.

Beyond Las Vegas, Sphere Entertainment has confirmed venues in Abu Dhabi and National Harbor, Maryland. Both projects remain in development. On Wall Street, Sphere Entertainment stock hit a record high of $174.86 on August 12. Its second-quarter 2026 revenue reached $313.6 million, up 11% year over year. For Las Vegas visitors, Oz and Mayer's April run offer two major Sphere draws heading into 2027.
