  • Statewide gaming win reached $1,266,105,114 in August, up 3.14%, while the Las Vegas Strip grew just 0.7% to $684.1 million.
  • September percentage fee collections fell 5.98% to $72.56 million, though they remain about 26% above September 2024 levels.

Nevada casinos won $1.27 billion in August, but the gaming taxes the state collected on that revenue fell. The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported statewide gaming win of $1,266,105,114, up 3.14% from August 2025.

In September, the state collected $72,563,543 in percentage fees on that revenue, 5.98% less than a year earlier. The Control Board released the figures Sept. 30, alongside softer visitor data from Las Vegas tourism officials.

Nevada Gaming Win Up 3.14% as Off-Strip Markets Outpace Strip

A year earlier, statewide win totaled $1,227,573,173. Fiscal-year-to-date win is up 2.58%. The Las Vegas Strip grew far more slowly than the state. Strip casinos won $684.1 million, up 0.7%. That accounted for about 54% of statewide win. The Strip's most recent monthly decline came in June, when win fell 1.39%.

Win in Clark County, which includes the Strip, rose 2.8% to $1,062,187,208. The county generated about 84% of the statewide total. Growth came largely from outside the Strip. The Boulder Strip climbed 17.38% to $83.2 million. Washoe County gained 10.44% to $108.4 million, and Laughlin rose 9.92%. On the downside, North Las Vegas fell 0.74%, and Mesquite slipped 1.28%.

Gaming Tax Collections Fall 5.98% After Last Year's Big Jump

Those September collections of $72,563,543 were based on August taxable revenue. The total came in $4,618,012 below the $77,181,555 collected in September 2025.

Collections were counted through Sept. 21 and are subject to revision. The amount excludes $1,829,717 in transferable tax credits taken this fiscal year. Fiscal-year-to-date collections total $256,759,713, down 1.31% from $260,155,774 a year earlier.

The comparison month was unusually strong. September 2025 collections had risen 33.80% from $57,682,602 a year earlier.

Measured against September 2024, this year's collections are up about 26%. Monthly collections have swung before, as in October 2025, when they fell 12.3% to $87 million. The Control Board did not cite a cause for the decline.

Las Vegas Visitors Fall 4.3% Without Labor Day Weekend

Visitation to Las Vegas also fell in August. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported 3.03 million visitors, down 4.3% from 3.17 million a year earlier. Hotel occupancy fell 3.4 percentage points to 74.1%. The average daily room rate dropped 7.4% to $150.

In its executive summary, the LVCVA attributed the decline to a "less packed event calendar and the absence of Labor Day weekend." Last year, Labor Day fell on Sept. 1, so part of the holiday weekend landed in August; this year, it fell on Sept. 7. Occupied room nights fell 3.7%, while convention attendance rose 6% to 622,700. Strip casinos have posted mixed monthly results this year as leisure travel softens. The Control Board is expected to release September gaming win figures later this month.
