Nevada Casinos Shatter April Record With $1.3B in Revenue

Nevada's casino industry posted its strongest April performance on record, generating nearly $1.3 billion in gaming revenue. The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported nonrestricted gaming licensees generated $1,299,970,983 in gaming win for April 2026. The total marks a 5.29% increase over April 2025. The gains came despite a 1.8% drop in Las Vegas visitor volume, which fell to approximately 3.28 million, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. For the fiscal year to date, statewide gaming win is running 2.29% ahead of last year's pace.

Las Vegas Strip Drives State Growth on Baccarat Surge

The Las Vegas Strip led the state, generating $689,446,473 in gaming win, a 6.58% year-over-year increase. It marked the third straight month Strip properties outperformed the prior year. Slot machines on the Strip produced $407 million, up 5% from the previous year. Table game revenue rose faster, climbing 8.9% to $282 million.

Baccarat was a standout contributor, adding $124.8 million to Strip totals. Statewide, baccarat revenue reached $132 million, up 20.1% from April 2025. Senior economic analyst Shelley Newell attributed much of the improvement to hold percentages on the Strip. The Strip's baccarat hold rate reached 16.5%, compared to 14% in April 2025. Multi-denomination slots statewide also surged, climbing 13.4% to $740 million.

Laughlin Leads Regional Gains as Downtown Slips

Beyond the Strip, most Nevada gaming markets posted positive year-over-year results. Clark County generated $1,118,498,416 in gaming win, up 4.75%.

Laughlin delivered the strongest regional gain, with gaming win jumping 16.9% to $46,968,826.

North Las Vegas rose 2.83% to $25,588,948, and Mesquite increased 4.1% to $18,648,019. The Boulder Strip edged up 0.08% to $89,973,987, while locals' casinos in the rest of Clark County gained 0.21% to $164,457,660.

Downtown Las Vegas was the only major market to decline, slipping 0.62% to $83,414,503. Newell noted that gaming win is up across all markets for the fiscal year to date, with North Shore Lake Tahoe the lone exception, down 7.9%.

Northern Nevada Surges as State Tax Collections Rise

Northern Nevada also posted solid gains in April. Washoe County reported $97,302,199 in gaming win, a 12.65% increase over April 2025. Reno generated $72,341,268 in gaming win, rising 11.81% year-over-year. Sparks recorded the largest percentage gain among Northern Nevada markets, with revenue up 20.28% to $15,228,428. South Lake Tahoe gaming win rose 10.49% to $18,377,666. Nevada also collected more gaming taxes, reflecting April's strong revenue performance. The state collected $78,384,041 in percentage fees through May 22, based on April taxable revenues, up 15.19% compared to the same period in 2025.
