DragonBet Joins Autism in Racing for Great Big Ride 2026

Key Takeaways

  • DragonBet will match fundraiser donations up to £5,000
  • Great Big Ride returns on June 27 after its 2025 debut
  • Campaign promotes autism awareness and accessibility in racing

DragonBet has partnered with Autism in Racing ahead of the 2026 Great Big Ride fundraiser. The bookmaker is committing to match donations up to £5,000.

The nationwide initiative will take place on 27 June. It encourages people across the racing industry to ride, walk or cycle any distance in support of autism inclusion and awareness within the sport.

The event was launched in 2025 and that year, it raised £5,000. This came from contributions from racing supporters, participants and industry figures. Organisers are now aiming to build on that figure during the fundraiser’s second year.

Focus on accessibility across racing

Autism in Racing has been focusing on improving accessibility at racecourses. The aim is to help autistic fans feel more comfortable attending meetings.

Ambassador Jane Buick said this year’s fundraiser is intended to expand both participation and public awareness around the charity’s work. She explained that organisers hope to at least double last year’s fundraising total while encouraging more people within racing to learn about autism-friendly raceday initiatives available across the country. The campaign remains open to all abilities, with participants able to choose any distance or activity type.

“It was a fantastic success in its first year and we had support from people across the country. This year we really want to give it a big push and hopefully at least double what was raised previously. […] The concept remains the same in that people can ride, cycle or walk, but it is also about spreading the word about Autism in Racing and helping more people discover the free Autism in Racing racedays that we organise.” – Jane Buick, Ambassador for Autism in Racing

DragonBet has a personal connection

The partnership also reflects a personal connection for DragonBet Co-Founder David Lovell, whose family has attended Autism in Racing events with his autistic son.

Lovell said the operator’s involvement followed positive experiences at autism-friendly racedays. This shows how valuable these inclusive environments can be for families attending live sporting events.

DragonBet wanted to help the charity by increasing visibility and fundraising in this year’s event. It is expected to attract broader support too.

“The Great Big Ride is a brilliant initiative and we are proud to support it this year,” he said. “We sponsored the Autism in Racing raceday at Chepstow last year and it was actually the first race meeting we were able to comfortably attend together as a family.”

He added that the experience reinforced the importance of making racing more accessible and inclusive.

Charity aims to expand reach in 2026

Broadcaster Bobby Beevers founded Autism in Racing was founded in 2021. It works with racecourses and stakeholders to improve accessibility and create autism-friendly raceday experiences.

This year’s Great Big Ride is expected to attract participants from across the sport as the organisation looks to expand its reach and continue promoting inclusivity within British racing.
