Primm Valley Casino Reopens Wednesday Under Terrible’s

The beginning stages of the re-opening of one of Nevada’s famed casino brands began on Wednesday.

Terrible’s, fresh off of a takeover of Primm from Affinity Gaming, welcomed guests back to Primm Valley Resort & Casino near the California border on Wednesday. Doors opened at noon local time after they had been shut for 17 days amid the transition in ownership and management.

Terrible’s also now has control of Buffalo Bill’s Casino and Whiskey Pete’s Casino.

Primm Valley, Terrible’s celebrate big day

A statement released by Terrible’s revealed that hundreds of employees put in long hours to help prepare Primm for its grand re-opening. The result was the casino, just off Interstate 15, returning to operational status in just two-and-a-half weeks.

“Primm has long been one of Nevada’s most recognizable destinations,” said Tim Herbst, president of Terrible’s, on June 9. “This partnership reflects our commitment to preserving that legacy while creating new opportunities for growth, investment, and tourism for decades to come. We believe Primm’s best days are still ahead.”

The iconic casino belonged to a family that owned land and businesses in the area since 1950. The casino opened in 1990 and is set to continue operations after it appeared to be doomed to a permanent closure earlier this summer.

“[We are] delighted to partner with Terrible’s and the Herbst family to help manage and operate these important Southern Nevada properties,” said Cory Clemetson, president of Primm South Real Estate Company and grandson of founder Ernie Primm.

Terrible’s previously operated the casino. It was fully approved to take over the casino once it received the necessary licensing from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, saving it from a July 4 closing date outlined by Affinity Gaming and Z Capital.

A familiar face

Primm Valley and the other casino properties in the border town often serve passer-bys and residents who live just on the other side of state lines.

The existing relationship between Primm and Terrible’s proved to be a natural liaison during the sale and eventual transition, which led to Wednesday’s re-opening.

“We’re pleased that we were able to secure such a qualified and like-minded partner for our properties at Primm in just over a month after that unfortunate and poorly timed announcement,” Clemetson said after the sale was agreed. “Our families have a lot in common and share the same goals for Primm.”

Guests visiting Primm Valley will now be treated to a strong assembly of options, including 422 gaming and slot machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar, and a 24/7 eatery. Terrible’s also has plans to expand the facility to include a coffee bar, a steakhouse, and a 24/7 cafe.

As a special offer to customers, Terrible’s is also waiving resort fees for hotel guests, matching rewards tiers for returning loyalty customers, and unveiling even more incentives.
