Key Takeaways

  • The state generates $245.7 million in iGaming revenue during August
  • Overall gambling revenue declined 2.2% to $569.7 million
  • Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course paced the market with $95.4 million in revenue

Pennsylvania’s online casinos enjoyed a strong month of August, even while the state’s gaming industry did not.

Online casinos hit $245.7 million by the end of the month, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) confirmed in a Thursday report. That marked a 6.3% year-over-year increase on the $231.2 million reported in Aug. 2025.

Despite that, overall gaming revenue from iGaming, retail casinos, sports betting, fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals fell 2.2% to $569.7 million.

iGaming growth defies market trends

Online slot machines provided a strong source of growth for the Pennsylvania iGaming market. These attractions generated $195.2 million in revenue, representing an 8.8% year-over-year improvement.

Online table games and online poker both showed declines since Aug. 2025, albeit to different degrees.

Table games dropped from $49.4 million to $48.1 million, a change of -2.6%. That was less pronounced, but more impactful overall, than online poker declining from $2.5 million to $2.4 million (5.2%) year-over-year.

Those sectors still contributed to a 6.3% improvement on the August 2025 online gaming total. The PGCB reported that all online casino gaming activity generated $113.5 million, of approximately 45.6% of the total gaming tax dollars that were paid to the state.

Pennsylvania finished 2025 with the second-largest gaming market in America. Its $7.7 billion value, based on gross gaming revenue, was only behind gambling giant Nevada, who reached $15.8 billion. New Jersey was the closest challenger at $7 billion, according to Statista.

Pennsylvania iGaming operators

Hollywood Casino at Penn National was responsible for the largest chunk of the online casino revenue total with $95.4 million, up 11.6% year-over-year. Anything above 6.3% means that the individual operator outperformed the market’s average growth.

Valley Forge Casino ($67.5 million, down 0.2% YoY) and Rivers Casino Philadelphia ($39.9 million, up 9% YoY) were the clear-cut second- and third-place operators.

There was a $25 million gap between the podium finishers and fourth-place Harrah’s Philadelphia, which generated $14.2 million. That was still an impressive 19.7% improvement on its Aug. 2025 total $11.8 million total.

Mohegan Pennsylvania ($3 million, up 71.4% YoY) and Bally’s Pennsylvania ($5.4 million, up 54.9% YoY) showed the most growth of all operators. Conversely, Live! Casino Philadelphia ($1.9 million, down 49.8% YoY) and Wind Creek Bethlehem ($1.2 million, down 45.4% YoY) declined the most.

Mount Airy Casino was notably absent from the PGCB’s monthly revenue report. It submitted $2.7 million in revenue in Aug. 2025, but according to the PGCB, it shut down its online casino operations during the recently-completed month.
