Key Takeaways

  • DAZN Bet is registered in both Alberta and Ontario, positioning it to enter Canada's two regulated iGaming markets.
  • Inspired Entertainment secured IGCS approval in Alberta, building on its existing partnership with Play Alberta.
  • Alberta's AGLC lists 35 operators in registration as of May 29, 2026, ahead of the July 13 market launch.

Alberta's regulated commercial online gambling market is on track to launch on July 13, 2026. The province will become only the second in Canada, after Ontario, to open its iGaming market to private operators. As the launch date approaches, operators and suppliers are securing registrations with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC). Sports streaming platform DAZN Bet and gaming content provider Inspired Entertainment are among those recently registered for the upcoming market.

DAZN Bet Registers in Alberta and Ontario

Sports streaming giant DAZN does not yet have an online gambling presence in Canada, but its DAZN Bet sportsbook and casino will soon be live in two provinces. DAZN Bet has already received an iGaming operator license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and, as of May 29, is listed as a registered operator by the AGLC. DAZN Bet received a license to launch in Ontario in January but has yet to start taking bets in the province.

The dual registrations position DAZN Bet to enter both major Canadian iGaming markets ahead of Alberta's July 13 opening.

Inspired Entertainment Approved as Alberta Supplier

Inspired Entertainment, a B2B provider of gaming content, systems, and solutions, has also secured approval to operate in Alberta. The AGLC has approved the company as an iGaming Goods or Services Supplier: Critical Gaming Systems (IGCS). This registration positions Inspired to support operators in Alberta's soon-to-launch regulated iGaming market.

Inspired is already active in the province through its partnership with Play Alberta, the government-run iGaming platform. That experience provides Inspired with valuable insights into the market, the regulatory environment, and player preferences. CEO Brooks Pierce said the company was thrilled to receive its IGCS registration and that its Play Alberta experience provides a strong foundation for responsible expansion.

35 Operators Line Up for Alberta's July 13 Launch

Alberta's regulated market is drawing significant operator interest. As of May 29, 2026, the AGLC lists 35 Operators that have commenced or completed the registration process for Alberta iGaming. Among them are major brands such as Caesars (three brands) and Super Group (six brands, including Betway and Jackpot City). Rush Street Interactive CEO Richard Schwartz described Alberta iGaming as a significant expansion opportunity for BetRivers, saying the company will take a deliberate, measured approach to market entry. The launch will make Alberta the second Canadian province, after Ontario, to open its online gambling market to private operators.
