BetMGM Brings Las Vegas Live Dealer Games to Alberta

BetMGM has extended its Las Vegas live dealer offering to Alberta. Blackjack, roulette, and baccarat now stream directly from MGM Grand and Bellagio to the province's newly regulated iGaming players. The launch, set for Aug. 20, runs on MGM Resorts International's live casino partnership with Playtech. It also brings Dual Play tables, where online bettors join the same game as gamblers seated on the casino floor. This mirrors an offering BetMGM introduced in Ontario two years ago. It positions the operator to lean on its Las Vegas ties while competing for early Alberta market share.

Alberta Players Can Now Access Live Dealer Tables

Alberta players can now access real-time blackjack, roulette, and baccarat hosted by professional dealers and broadcast live from MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas. "Live dealer content continues to be one of the fastest-evolving categories in iGaming," said Rob Passerino, director of gaming at BetMGM. "Live dealer bridges the gap between online gaming and the casino floor, creating a more immersive and engaging experience for players," he added. BetMGM was a Day One operator when Alberta's market launched on July 13.

BetMGM Execs Call Live Dealer a Key Alberta Edge

BetMGM executives have flagged MGM Live as a core Alberta differentiator. On a late-July earnings call, CEO Adam Greenblatt said roughly 70% of BetMGM's gaming revenue comes from online casino, pointing to its Las Vegas live dealer product as an edge over rivals. "With our shareholder MGM Resorts, we have a unique offering in the world of live casino, and we think that's an area that we can build from," Greenblatt said. "It's popular in our Ontario business, and we believe it will gain traction in Alberta... Live is another area where we can differentiate." Greenblatt added that close to 10% of new Alberta users already had ties to MGM Resorts.

Why Alberta and Ontario Allow Direct Vegas Streaming

Alberta and Ontario are among the few regulated North American markets that permit direct Nevada streaming. Most U.S. jurisdictions, by contrast, require live dealer content to originate from local studios. This rule limits operators to purpose-built sets rather than tables inside active resorts.

Alberta's framework lets BetMGM route its Las Vegas feed straight to provincial players. It is the same arrangement that has driven strong live dealer engagement in Ontario since 2024.

This regulatory alignment gives MGM Resorts' Strip properties a direct commercial role in a Canadian market thousands of kilometers away, reinforcing a broader Vegas-to-Canada iGaming pipeline that few competitors can currently replicate.
