Meet Sian Roberts

Sian discovered her passion for the online gambling world back in 2007, when she was first introduced to online poker through friends. Her curiosity didn’t stop at the poker tables, and she quickly became embroiled in the iGaming world, trying out a range of table games and dabbling in the colourful sphere of slots.

Writing about various iGaming topics began simply as a part-time hobby but soon developed into something more when Sian realised she could turn her favourite past-time into a full-time career. Sian prides herself on giving the readers what they need through honesty, facts, and unbiased opinions.

Outside of the gaming industry, not only does Sian like to travel and discover new experiences, but she is also a keen runner hoping to complete a marathon in the not too distant future.

Q&A with Sian Roberts

  • What inspired you to write about the iGaming industry?

When I first started to play poker online I came across several guides that were just too complex for the average beginner to understand. I wanted to create content that was easy to read, easy to understand, and above all else, helpful.

  • What is your favourite casino game to play and why?

Besides poker, I do have a soft spot for spinning the slot reels. I love the variety of themes and bonuses available with slot games, whilst the unpredictability provides that certain je-ne-sais-quoi.

  • What casino games do you tend to avoid?

I’m not a huge fan of crash games as they invite fast-play and chew up your budget way too quickly. I also avoid casino games like Keno which have a lower return-to-player percentage.

  • What is your number one tip for new casino players?

I have a couple that I’d like to mention – always make sure it’s licensed and fair, check it has responsible gambling tools to use, and utilise its free games library first before wagering real money.

  • What’s the best/worst tip you’ve ever received?

The best tip I ever had was not to play every poker hand with an ace like it was a winner as this really isn’t the case. I was advised to be selective with my play, fold often and only bet when you really have something worth playing.
