Bally's Completes $30M Acquisition of Sam's Town Shreveport

Bally's Corporation has completed its acquisition of Sam's Town Shreveport. The company confirmed the closing this week in a formal statement. Bally's purchased the Louisiana property from Boyd Gaming for $30 million. Regulators at the Louisiana Gaming Control Board unanimously approved the deal earlier this summer. The acquisition marks another step in Bally's regional expansion strategy, and it creates an unusual dynamic in the local Shreveport gaming market. Bally's already owns and operates a riverboat casino directly next door.

Bally's Shreveport Casinos Now Share One Owner

Sam's Town Shreveport sits on the west bank of the Red River, sharing that stretch of riverfront with Bally's Shreveport Casino and Hotel. The neighboring properties will now operate under unified corporate control, marking the first time two adjacent riverboat casinos in the market have shared one owner. Bally's Chairman Soo Kim addressed the milestone in the announcement. "Today's closing marks an important milestone for Bally's as we continue to expand our presence in key regional markets and invest in destinations with strong long-term potential," Kim said. The deal adds another Louisiana asset to Bally's expanding portfolio of regional gaming properties across the country.

Company Portfolio Grows as Sam's Town Reopens

Bally's operates 20 properties across 20 states nationwide. The company employs roughly 12,000 workers across its casino operations and maintains about 18,000 gaming machines company-wide. Bally's also manages roughly 4,000 hotel rooms across its properties. The Shreveport addition strengthens Bally's footprint in the Louisiana market.

Sam's Town Shreveport closed briefly last weekend for the ownership transition. The property shut its doors Friday night and reopened Saturday afternoon under new management. Staffing and operational details are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. Bally's has not announced immediate plans to rebrand or renovate the property.

50 Cent Cheers Deal Amid Louisiana Gaming Trend

The acquisition drew attention from public figures with ties to the Shreveport area. Rapper and entrepreneur Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson publicly welcomed the transaction. He has previously invested in development projects around Shreveport. Local officials have also voiced support for continued gaming investment in the region.

Louisiana's riverboat gaming market has drawn steady interest from national operators in recent years. Bally's expansion reflects a broader industry shift toward consolidating regional gaming assets.

Analysts note that unified ownership of adjacent properties can create operational efficiencies, such as shared staffing, marketing, and amenity access for guests at both casinos.
