Key Takeaways

  • TEKKEN 8 will be part of the Esports World Cup 2025
  • TEKKEN 8 was at Esports World Cup 2024
  • Last year, Lim “Ulsan” Soo-hoon won, bringing home a $300k prize along with an additional $50k for winning MVP

One of the most influential fighting games in all of gaming, TEKKEN, has been announced for Esports World Cup 2025 with TEKKEN 8.

The announcement was made on the Esports World Cup X account: “Fight for flory glory this summer as #TEKKEN8 returns for the #EWC2025.”

TEKKEN 8 At Esports World Cup 2024

TEKKEN 8 was at the Esports World Cup 2024, and fans and former champions are excited to see it.

“I am extremely happy Tekken returns for Esports World Cup 2025,” said Bawaqar Haider, a former TEKKEN8 commentator and world champion who also goes by the name “Soul Dagger.

“I visited Esports World Cup 2024 as a spectator, but now I’d wish to come as a commentator.”

In 2025, TEKKEN 8 will have an even bigger presence as 40 teams in the Club Partner Program and other professionals globally will compete.

Some teams that we know of already include DRX Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Twisted Minds.

Ninjas In Pyjamas responded to the post with a simple “HELL YEAH” and a GIF of excited people wearing Ninjas In Pyjamas jerseys.

In 2024, TEKKEN 8 had 32 players rather than multiple teams. It seems that in 2025, it’ll once again be player-based but will represent specific organizations.

Last year, Lim “Ulsan” Soo-hoon, a South Korean player from DN Freecs, won. He has said he will play again this year. He won using Dragunov and won the $300,000 cash prize. He was also named MVP, securing an additional $50,000.

Other Esports World Cup 2025 Announcements

In addition to TEKKEN 8, other titles have been announced over recent months.

In December 2024, Apex Legends was announced. That same month, Rainbow Six Seige was, too.

Other titles that have been announced include Honor of Kings, Free Fire, Street Fighter 6, Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Call of Duty: Warzone, and more.

Esports World Cup 2025 will occur in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
