Golden Nugget Adds Dice Game, Plaza Debuts High Limit Slots

Downtown Las Vegas casinos are investing in new attractions to draw gamblers. Golden Nugget Las Vegas has added 3-Dice Yahtzee to its main gaming floor, making it the first Las Vegas casino to offer the table game. A few blocks away, Plaza Hotel & Casino has opened a dedicated High Limit Slots Room. The new space features more than 50 slot machines. Golden Nugget's new game brings a familiar dice contest to the casino pit.

Plaza's expansion caters to higher-stakes slot players seeking privacy and personalized service.

How 3-Dice Yahtzee Works on the Casino Floor

Las Vegas-based gaming company Galaxy Gaming developed 3-Dice Yahtzee. The house-banked game pits two sets of three dice against each other, and players wager on whether the Red side, Blue side, or a tie will win. Each hand ranks as a Yahtzee, a straight, or a Chance score. A Yahtzee, or three matching dice, ranks highest.

Casinos can configure the game to pay enhanced odds when the winning hand is three 6s. The game also offers optional bonus bets and a progressive jackpot tied to combined dice rolls. "There's a reason Yahtzee has been a favorite around kitchen tables for generations, and we wanted to bring that same fun to the casino pit," said Tyler Knight, director of product management at Galaxy Gaming. Galaxy Gaming holds a licensing agreement with Hasbro to bring Yahtzee-branded games to casino floors.

Plaza Debuts High Limit Slots Room With VIP Perks

Plaza Hotel & Casino opened its new High Limit Slots Room this week. The 2,000-square-foot space sits on the main casino floor. It houses more than 50 slot machines with higher maximum bets. Each machine uses Acres Cashless Gaming, which accepts Apple Pay and other electronic payments. The room includes a concierge desk, lounge seating, and a complimentary beverage station. Top-tier Plaza Players Club members can check into their hotel rooms directly from the space.

"With the new High Limit Slots Room, we wanted to not only provide the newest and most popular games with higher limits but also focus on personalized customer service," said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of Plaza Hotel & Casino. Jossel said the slot business has grown as more high-end players visit downtown Las Vegas.

The additions come as downtown Las Vegas casinos compete for a wider range of players. Downtown Las Vegas casino revenue reached $1.62 billion in 2025. Golden Nugget's dice game targets a younger, group-oriented crowd, while Plaza's slots room appeals to higher-spending guests seeking privacy and service. The 3-Dice Yahtzee game debuted at Golden Nugget after appearances in other gaming markets. Plaza's high-limit room replaces a former restaurant space near the main casino floor. The two openings arrive weeks apart, reflecting broader investment in downtown Las Vegas gaming amenities.
