Key Takeaways
- The woman’s win was called one of the most significant payouts ever recorded in the state
- The couple had been casino club members since 2009
- Casino officials called the win a historic milestone for the state’s gambling industry
A couple celebrating their anniversary at an Oregon casino won more than a quarter of a million dollars at the same table.
“Janice F.” won a record $253,853 jackpot at Three Rivers Casino Resort in Florence, about three hours north of Portland. Improbably, her husband also won $10,904 without having to get up and find a new station.
The couple had been club members since 2009 and were visiting from Sandy.
Back-to-back jackpots
The couple visited the casino — which includes live-dealer table games, slot machinies, and other amenities — to commemorate their 18th wedding anniversary. Little did they know that they were hours away from walking out with a combined $264,757.30 from two jackpot wins.
“I am just so shocked,” said Janice, who was photographed holding a giant check for $253,853.30. “I’m still shocked! We just can’t believe it! My whole body felt numb.”
Janice’s record win came from the BSX Triple Diamond Progressive Jackpot earned while playing Three Card Poker. Her win reset the jackpot, only for her husband to win the new amount just hours later.
Rich Colton, Three Rivers Casino Resort marketing director, said that the win made history for Oregon’s gaming industry.
“We are thrilled for our guests and excited to celebrate such an incredible moment here at Three Rivers Casino Resort,” he said. “This was more than just a jackpot. This was a truly historic gaming moment for the state of Oregon. Watching the reactions from our guests and team members as this unfolded was incredible. The energy across the casino floor was something none of us will ever forget.”
The couple said that they intended on using their winnings for cruises and vacations together, according to the news station KPIC.
Oregon’s casino & gaming industry
While the couple made out of the casino like bandits, their wins were a long time coming. They revealed that they had frequented the casino together for years, scheduling trips and spending important milestones at the property.
“We love it here,” they shared. “The dealers and pit bosses are so nice. When we want to go for a getaway, we always come here. We spend every anniversary at Three Rivers Casino.”
Oregon is home to 10 casino locations, which are operated by eight federally recognized tribes.
Of 37 states listed in a 2025 year-end commercial gaming revenue report by Statista, Oregon ranked fourth from the bottom with $101.3 million in total value. Three Rivers Casino does not publicly release detailed revenue reports.
The American Gaming Association noted that Oregon’s gaming industry supports jobs for more than 15,600 locals and generates $410 million in tax revenue and tribal revenue share annually for all levels of government.
