The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking assistance in solving a casino robbery in Missouri.

The federal criminal investigation agency is offering a $5,000 reward for information about Hollis C. Vanleer Jr., who was allegedly involved in a robbery at the Isle of Capri Casino. The incident occurred in Boonville, Missouri, on March 25.

Vanleer Jr.’s accomplice, an employee at the casino, was already arrested.

Missouri casino robbery details

The FBI confirmed its prize for details about Vanleer Jr. in a news release on Thursday.

According to public records, the robbery began with two masked individuals entering the casino. One held a handgun, and the other had a rifle.

The two suspects jumped over the cage desk and entered the casino vault near the back of the building, located about 150 miles west of St. Louis. The two conspirators made out with what was later revealed to be just under $1.3 million.

Vanleer Jr. — who is still on the run — was charged in Cooper County on April 14 with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and armed criminal action.

The police’s description for Vanleer Jr. depicts him as a 6-foot-1 black man who weighs anywhere from 180 to 230 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and has a tattoo on his left hand.

The FBI noted that he may have ties to Chicago and Normal, Illinois. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Kansas City FBI Field Office at (816) 512-8200 or the Missouri State Highway Patrol at (573) 751-1000.

What happened during the robbery?

The springtime robbery of the Isle of Capri Casino occurred just after 2:00 p.m. local time, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The pair of robbers stole what was, at the time, an unknown amount of money. They fled the scene in an older tan Ford Taurus, which was later found abandoned. The police believed that the individuals left that scene in another vehicle.

After an initial response to the robbery, the MSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control took over the investigation. The Boonville Police Department, Cooper County Sheriff’s Office and FBI all assisted.

The conspirator who was arrested, 21-year-old Benjamin Charles, was charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence. A hearing was scheduled for Monday afternoon.

The casino is part of the Isle of Capri Casinos chain that was founded 36 years ago by Bernard Goldstein. The Boonville location says that it offers 29,000 square feet of gaming space, slot machines, 15 live-dealer table games, including blackjack and poker, restaurants, and hotel rooms.

Visitors can also utilize the Caesars Rewards program to boost their experience and earn rewards.
