Delaware’s gaming division confirmed that it expanded retail gambling options throughout the state’s three licensed casinos and 89 lottery retailers.

The Delaware Lottery said that a slew of betting kiosks were released at approved locations this week. Officials say that the new machines will allow users to place more complex sports bets without the assistance of casino clerks or staff.

Kiosks are now available at Sports Lottery locations, Delaware Park Casino, Bally’s Dover Casino Resort, and Harrington Raceway and Casino.

Delaware releases betting kiosks

Delaware’s new betting kiosks include all of the usual hits for sports bettors, such as single-wager moneyline, spread, and points total odds. They also allow bettors to play proposition bets, same-game parlays, and in-play odds, all of which were not immediately available at retail locations, such as the state’s casinos.

Additionally, customers can now arrange their bets online and generate a six-digit code that, when entered, will load the wager into the kiosk. This is called BetAhead, which global gaming technology company Scientific Games says is a proactive way to ensure that players fully consider their wagers before they are placed.

The company also noted that customers will not face the public pressure of being in a rush if there is a line to use a kiosk.

“As sports betting continues to grow in popularity, these self-service kiosks meet players where they are in terms of fitting wagering into their day as well as their particular preferences for wagering,” said Delaware Lottery Director Helene Keeley.  “They can also support our loyal Sports Lottery Retailers by reducing staff workload and transaction times during peak periods. The Delaware Lottery is thrilled to provide players with this new opportunity to make wagering more convenient, accessible and exciting.”

Kiosks will have the ability to produce scannable QR codes, which customers can use to check their betting results and load information about winning payouts and losing submissions.

Delaware’s casino and online gaming market

Unlike online sports betting, kiosk users have to pay for transaction processing whenever they utilize the new technology.

Caesars Sportsbook, through its partnership with the Delaware State Lottery, will provide the betting odds for all of the state’s self-service betting kiosks. Caesars does not have a direct partnership with any of the three retail casinos, all of which offer traditional amenities such as live-dealer table games, blackjack, poker, and slot machines.

Interestingly, Delaware’s only licensed online sportsbook app is BetRivers. BetRivers is also one of several state-licensed online casino platforms.

Relatedly, Delaware is only one of even states with legal and live online casinos. Maine legalized its iGaming market in January and is expected to launch its platforms before the end of the year.

Draw and instant-win casino games are accessible for customers aged 18 and older. Retail facilities housing kiosks are also responsible for ensuring that only cash and debit cards are used, since credit card account deposits are banned.

Retail and online sports betting and casino gaming are reserved for players who are at least 21 years old.
