On Sunday, the Sparks Police Department in Sparks, Nevada, sprung into action during a routine call for service as, while they were there, gunshots broke out.
As a result of the shooting, one man is dead.
The shooting occurred at around 5:00 am local time on Sunday, March 16.
The Sparks Police Department was already on the scene as they were servicing a routine call and, while there, heard gunshots from the lobby.
At the west side of the lobby, police located a man, 35, who had been shot.
He was rushed to the hospital but died despite receiving treatment.
Additionally, a 19-year-old man brought himself to the hospital in connection to the shooting and was treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
The working theory right now is that a fight broke out between two men, resulting in the shooting.
They also believe it was an isolated incident, and the public isn’t in danger.
This was the first homicide in Sparks, Nevada, this year.
Sparks Police request that anyone who may know anything about what happened call the Sparks Police Detective Division at (775) 353-2225 or leave a tip anonymously with Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
This shooting at Nugget came just one day after there were reported gunshots at Circus Circus’ Adventuredome.
However, those reports were unfounded, and the cases aren’t connected in any way.
“Detectives learned that a fight broke out inside of the venue, causing numerous individuals to run out of the property,” Las Vegas Police said. “This caused panic amongst the crowd, and several other fights broke out outside of the property.”
Nearly 12 police cruisers responded to the scene. Guests were able to return to their rooms around 8:00 pm that evening.
Despite there being no actual gunshots, guests who thought there were were terrified.
“People started crying. People started yelling, and a lot of people started running,” said one guest at Circus Cus, Shahiera Langendam. “This was actually the most scariest thing I have ever experienced.”
The reports began to circulate, with some saying they heard them and that people were shot and/or stabbed.
“A woman told me she heard gunshots,” she continued. “We heard a lot of stories about people possibly stabbing or shooting. That’s what I heard.”
This incident comes after a man was found guilty of double murder at Circus Circus back in Oct. 2024.
