Key Takeaways
- Revenue hit $416.3 million, the second-best month on record.
- Average revenue per active account fell 10% to $295.
- Fiscal Q2 revenue reached $1.23 billion, up 25.7% year over year.
Ontario's regulated iGaming market reached a record 1.41 million active accounts in September 2026. That marks the highest monthly total since the market opened in April 2022. iGaming Ontario (iGO) released the figures on Oct. 28 in its monthly market performance report. Active accounts rose about 17% from August and 20.1% from September 2025.
The market generated $416.3 million in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR), making September the second-best revenue month on record. Only December 2025 was higher, at $425.6 million. For iGO's fiscal second quarter, which runs July through September, total market revenue reached $1.23 billion, up 25.7% from the same period in 2025.
Accounts Surge, Player Spend Dips, and Fanatics Casino Launches
The jump in accounts came as per-account spending declined. Average monthly revenue per active account fell 10% to $295, down from $328 in August. iGO counts accounts, not unique players.
Because players can hold accounts with more than one operator, the total likely overstates the number of people playing.
The market also added a new brand in September. Fanatics Casino went live in Ontario on Sept. 1. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) granted the operator a two-year internet gaming registration on Aug. 11. Fanatics launched with casino games only, and its sportsbook is expected to follow in 2027. The company opted for a soft launch and plans to ramp up its Canadian marketing in the coming months.
Ontario Online Casino Revenue Hits Third Straight Record
Online casino remained the engine of Ontario's market in September. Casino revenue hit a record $340.8 million, topping August's previous high of $336.3 million. It was the segment's third straight record month.
Compared with September 2025, casino revenue rose 22.7%. Online casino accounted for 82% of total market revenue. Through September, online casino revenue totals $2.87 billion for 2026. That is up about 29% from $2.23 billion over the same period in 2025.
Wagers on casino games, however, slipped 3% from August to $8.5 billion. Total cash wagers across all products held flat month over month at $9.71 billion. Even so, that total rose 13.6% year over year.
Sports Betting Revenue Rebounds 27% as Operator Hold Rises
Sports betting bounced back after a quieter August. iGO's betting category includes sports, esports, novelty and exchange wagers. Betting handle and revenue each rose 27% from August, to $1.07 billion and $69.1 million, respectively.
Year over year, betting revenue rose 47.3% from $46.9 million. Handle, however, was nearly flat against $1.06 billion a year earlier. Higher hold, the share of handle operators keep as revenue, drove the gain. Operators kept about 6.4% of handle in September, up from roughly 4.4% in September 2025.
Peer-to-peer poker added $6.4 million in revenue, or about 1.5% of the market total.
