Key Takeaways

  • DraftKings filed an update with the CFTC for a prediction market product called "COMBOS"
  • The contracts would allow traders to combine multiple outcomes into a single position
  • DraftKings says more than 600,000 people engaged with its predictions offering during the first half of 2026

DraftKings has seen firsthand how intriguing parlay wagers are to players with its popular online sportsbook, and now, they're looking to add those, with a different name, to their prediction market platform.

Instead of being called parlays, these will be known as "combos." A Commodity Futures Trading Commission filing shows an August 7 update for a product under the "COMBOS" name. It was filed as a DCM, or Designated Contract Market, product. The listed organization is Railbird Exchange LLC d/b/a DKeX, DraftKings' prediction market platform.

The company purchased Railbird Exchange, a CFTC-licensed operator, in May 2026.

According to the filing, the "COMBOS" contract will consist of "Will all [outcomes] occur?" These will be made available via Crypto.com.

DraftKings Sees Predictions as Incremental Opportunity

On a call with investors last week, Robins suggested there isn't much overlap between sportsbook customers and prediction-market platform traders.

“Our newly launched predictions offering is growing faster than we anticipated,” Robins told analysts.

He then explained the differences between the customer bases of the two platforms.

“These platforms are drawing a fundamentally different, and largely professional, audience,” Robins said. DraftKings estimates that between 80% and 90% of sports prediction market consumer volume in sportsbook states comes from professional betting syndicates and institutional traders, which is volume Robins said that his company’s sportsbook would not have had.

“This continues to strengthen our confidence that Predictions is a large and incremental opportunity … It’s not something that we believe will ever be cannibalistic.”

From there, Robins mentioned that more than 600,000 people engaged with predictions in the first half of 2026, which "far surpassed our expectations."

Now, DraftKings Predictions offers more than 30 markets per NBA, WNBA, and MLB game. These include player prop-like and per-innings markets.

DraftKings Plans to Shift Sports Volume to Its Own Exchange

Also, on the investors' call, Robins was asked, in so many words, how quickly prediction market platform customers will become profitable compared with traditional sportsbook bettors and whether or not it can keep all of the volume from the prediction market platform in-house or if there's something more complicated.

"We’re certainly planning to shift the volume that we have, in sports at least, to our platform in the coming months," Robins said among other things.

Later, he added this, answering a different question: "Our expectation is that the vast majority of our sports content, at least in the major sports that are going on this fall, starting, of course, with CFB and NFL, that we’re going to try to port as much of that volume over to the exchange as fast as is reasonably possible."
