Key Takeaways

  • Caesars is partnering with Wabanaki nations on a proposed online casino platform
  • The project includes funding for tribal community programs
  • Oxford Casino continues challenging Maine's online casino law in court

Right now, Caesars offers online sports betting in Maine, but soon, there could be even more than that.

According to WGME, there have been talks between three Wabanaki nations to bring online casino gaming to Maine. The report mentions that a group discussed it on Friday and that Caesars Entertainment said that the partnership will "help grow online gambling in Maine while investing in the state."

Right now, as mentioned, online sports betting is available, as is in-person retail betting at locations such as Oddfellahs in Portland.

Now, Caesars wants to provide a similar mobile experience, but with online casino play.

Partnership Focuses on Tribal Investment

WGME says that the plan would be for investment in the local workforce, including training members of each Wabanaki nation and also ensure financial support is provided for tribal community programs.

This platform is set to launch next year and will include popular casino games like blackjack, poker, and craps.

Online casino gaming became legal in Maine earlier in 2026, though the process of developing the rules is still underway.

There's been some legal action brewing, though, as Oxford Casino and Sportsbook has challenged the law and says that tribes have an unfair monopoly.

Mobile Casino Gaming Could Launch in 2027

Since online sports betting went live in Maine in 2023, it has generated millions of dollars in tax revenue for the state.

A senior VP for Caesars, Dan Shapiro, provided a comment on this, saying the following:

“It’s a great time. People want to do this activity on their phones, and we are going to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to do that."

Conversations about an online gambling bill in Maine date back to May 30, 2025. At that time, it was approved by a committee

So, it appears that, in 2027, Caesars Casino will be available on mobile devices in Maine, along with sports betting.
