Caedrel confirmed Los Ratones is shutting down after its LEC 2026 exit
The team gained rapid popularity, featuring stars like Nemesis and Rekkles
Los Ratones generated strong viewership, peaking near 592,000 viewers in its battle with Team Vitality
Los Ratones, a UK esports organization, is being shut down, confirmed by its owner and League of Legends personality Marc Robert "Caedrel" Lamont.
This game after the team's elimination from the LEC 2026 Versus competition. They narrowly missed the playoffs after losing to Team Vitality during the LEC 2026 Versus regular season on Feb. 8, 2026.
He also revealed that the team would've shut down even sooner if it had not competed in the LEC in 2026.
The team was founded in November 2024 and rose to popularity thanks to Caedrel, but also the roster, which included Tim ‘Nemesis‘ Lipovšek, Martin ‘Rekkles‘ Larson, and Simon ‘Baus‘ Hofverberg. Caedrel also competed in the NLC as support.
“It’s a really bittersweet ending,” said Caedrel during the farewell video. “The first week in the LEC was horrible; it felt like the whole world hated us. Our fate was in our hands, and we let it slip; there are no excuses.”
He also added that it was “highly likely that it never comes back,” referring to Los Ratones.
“It starts and ends with that group, and it starts and ends with those players.”
Los Ratones Impact On Esports
As mentioned, Los Ratones was popular, and in June 2025, this was evident when the NLC Spring Split recorded 220,000 viewers as Los Ratones defeated NORD Esports in the Grand Final.
Also, Los Ratones won two EMEA Masters events, making them one of two ERL organizations to compete in the LE's opening split.
During Los Ratones' matchup against Team Vitality, peak viewership hit almost 592,000.
“I want to say thank you to everyone for making this possible,” added Nemesis in the video. “It was probably the coolest experience of my life. Although it feels like the end, I don’t think it is.”
