Key Takeaways

  • FNS has retired from pro VALORANT play
  • He began his career with Together We Are Terrific
  • This comes after TenZ, another VALORANT pro, left Sentinels

Pujan “FNS” Mehta has announced his retirement from competitive VALORANT play. He’s one of the most experienced IGLs (In-Game Leaders) in the scene, and now, he’ll be focusing more on streaming.

This comes after TenZ, another well-respected VALORANT pro, departed Sentinels; now, his next move is unclear.

Additionally, FNS took a break in 2023 but returned to the VCT with NRG for another season. Then, after the Americas Stage 1 ended, he announced he was leaving.

FNS Retirement YouTube Video

On the NRG VALORANT YouTube channel, which has 205k subscribers and nearly 78 million views, a video titled “Thank you, FNS” was posted on Friday, May 9. It’s accumulated nearly 80k views.

In that video, FNS announced his retirement.

“I haven’t had this thought in my entire career, but this is the first time I went home and I had the thought that I don’t want to play anymore,” FNS revealed.

“I think it was the accumulation of all the seasons, but also enduring failure to an extent which was way more than I’ve had success. And having failed the way we did was probably the tipping point for me. I was like, look, something’s got to change on this team, and I’m not trying to cut anybody else on this team, period,” he added.

FNS’s Incredible Legacy

FNS began his VALORANT career with the squad “Together We Are Terrific" (TWT). However, after months of showcasing his talents, Team Envy, a North American squad, picked him up. Under his guidance, the team qualified for the Masters Berlin and VALORANT Champions 2021.

Later, Envy was rebranded to OpTic Gaming, which is when FNS was most successful. In 2022, he won the Masters Reykjavik tournament and was runner-up at VALORANT Champions 2022.

However, OpTic didn’t make the VCT partnership program. From there, NRG signed the roster, and FNS was there for two years.

While he was on a break, he streamed VALORANT and the VCT matches, and viewers supported him a lot.

Now, fans will be able to interact with him more via his streams, but yes, the days of professional gameplay are over.

FNS has over 400,000 followers on Twitch and has mentioned how much he enjoys streaming.

With FNS departing, NRG has brought in Logan “skuba” Jenkins from Sentinels’ academy squad. Additionally, former coach Malkolm “bonkar” Wrench is back, too.
