The 2025 SEA Games pushed this event off for a year, but on January 3, the M7 World Championship, the top event for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, is back. 

The seventh iteration of the event runs through January 25, with 22 teams competing for a $1 million prize pool. 

There will be a new champion, too, as the defending champion, ONIC Philippines, didn't qualify. 

The Teams Competing

Of the 22 teams, eight will begin in the Wildcard Stage, while the other 14 will proceed directly to the Main Event. 

There's no North American representation. 

  • Wildcard Stage teams: RLG SE, Axe, Boostgate Esports, Virtus.pro, Leon Esports, Guangzhou Gaming, Team Zone, ZETA DIVISION
  • Main Event teams: ONIC, Alter Ego, Team Liquid PH, Aurora Gaming PH, SRG.OG, CG Esports, Evil, CFU Gaming, Team Falcons, Yangon Galacticos, Team Spirit, Aurora Gaming, Black Sentence Esports, DianFengYaoGuai

The Tournaments Format and Schedule

The Wildcard Stage runs from January 3 to January 6, starting with the Group Stage. 

The eight Wildcard Stage teams will be split into two Groups of four. 

  • Group A: Boostgate Esports, Team Zone, Leon Esports, ZETA Division
  • Group B: Guangzhou Gaming, Virtus.pro, Axe, RLG SE

From here, the two top teams from each group will move onto the Decider stage, where they'll compete in a best-of-five matchup. Then, the two best teams across both groups move to the Main Event. 

As for the Main Event, there are two stages:

  • Swiss Stage: January 10 to 17. 16 teams (including the two from the Wildcard Stage). 
  • Knockout Stage: January 18 to 25

These are the Swiss Stage matches: 

  • Alter Ego vs Aurora Gaming
  • Aurora Gaming PH vs Team Liquid PH
  • Black Sentence Esports vs CFU Gaming
  • SRG.OG vs CG Esports
  • Wildcard Team 1 vs Yangon Galacticos
  • Evil vs Team Secret
  • DianFengYaoGuai vs Team Falcons
  • ONIC vs Wildcard Team 2

The Knockout Stage will feature eight teams, with a double-elimination bracket. All series will be best-of-five, except for the first-round upper bracket, which'll be best-of-three. 

Finally, the Grand Final will be a best-of-seven. 

Where to Watch the Event

If you want to attend in person, you must go to the MPL Arena XO Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia, for the Wildcard, Swiss Stage, and Day 1 of the Knockout Rounds. The remainder of the event will be at the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan.
