BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment's gaming convention, is returning in 2026, along with some esports competitions, in Anaheim, California, USA. The event will take place on September 12 and 13, and five programs will be covered.
Blizzard Classic Cup and WoW Events
The five competitions that'll be at BlizzCon 2026 include the following, per Blizzard:
- Blizzard Classic Cup
- World of Warcraft: Arena World Championship
- World of Warcraft: Mythic Dungeon International
- Overwatch World Cup
- Hearthstone Masters Tour and World Championship
The Blizzard Classic Cup is a brand-new addition. That is a cross-title team showdown, including games like Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft: Remastered, StarCraft II, and Warcraft III: Reforged.
The prize pool is $100,000 total. There will also be legacy matches, which feature a $20,000 bounty award to the competitors in that matchup.
Moving over to World of Warcraft, the Arena World Championship will be a year-long format, and open qualifiers begin on April 8. Between this event and the Mythic Dungeon Invitational, there will be $600,000 in prizes.
Overwatch World Cup
To celebrate 10 years of Overwatch, the Overwatch World Cup is coming to BlizzCon.
There will be 52 teams competing across the program, but the main tournament will have 30 teams, including 19 invited and 11 wildcard teams.
The invited teams include the following:
- Americas: Brazil (BRA), Canada (CAN), Colombia (COL), Mexico (MEX), and the United States (USA)
- EMEA: Denmark (DEN), Finland (FIN), France (FRA), Great Britain (GBR), Norway (NOR), Saudi Arabia (KSA), Spain (ESP), and Sweden (SWE)
- Asia: Australia (AUS), China (CHN), Hong Kong (HKG), Japan (JPN), South Korea (KOR), and Thailand (THA)
There are also many other wildcard teams.
Hearthstone Masters Tour
The 2026 Hearthstone Masters Tour is already underway, and the top 12 players have now locked in their placement into the first Masters Tour Championship of the year, which will be on April 10-12. After that, the top three will be the first players to qualify for BlizzCon.
The 2026 Hearthstone Esports circuit was initially revealed in December 2025.
