  • Sweeps Coins will no longer be awarded at WOW Vegas after Dec. 24
  • Players can use their Sweeps Coins up until 11:59 pm PT on Dec. 31
  • California's sweepstakes ban kicks it at midnight on Jan. 1, 2026

California's sweepstakes casino ban is set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2026, and we've now learned what WOW Vegas plans to do in the state.

WOW Vegas Message to Players

Beginning Dec. 24, 2025, WOW Vegas, in an email to players, revealed it will no longer award Sweeps Coins in California.

“We are reaching out to let you know about an important upcoming change to our Terms and Conditions, affecting players in California only,” the email reads, in part. “We have been delighted to provide SC games to you, and please remember, if you ever leave California, you will be able to enjoy our full experience once again.”

In the email, however, there was no mention of Gold Coins play, leading us to believe these may still be viable in California, similar to what ARB Interactive, VGW, and B-Two Operations plan to do post-Jan. 1.

There was also a timeline revealed in the email:

  • Effective December 24, 2025, 11:59 PM PT, customers in California will no longer be able to receive free SC through any method.
  • Mail-in requests for free SC from customers in California, dated after December 24, 2025, 11:59 PM PT will no longer be accepted.
  • Customers in California can continue to use any remaining SC in your account until December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT.
  • Any SC you have already won can still be redeemed for prizes by customers in California until December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT.

As noted above, players in California can use any remaining SC in their account until the final minute.

Other Brands Plans

With WOW Vegas revealing its plans, here's a roundup of what other top sweepstakes casino brands plan to do as California's ban looms:

  • Stake.us: Exiting the California market entirely. The platform is also dealing with an active lawsuit in the state.

  • Modo.us: Remaining fully operational through the end of the year before shifting to Gold Coins–only play on January 1.

  • Yellow Social Interactive Ltd.: Set to withdraw Pulsz Casino and Pulsz Bingo from California by December 15.

  • VGW: Sweeps play will be discontinued on Dec. 30, and Gold Coins play will remain.

  • Legendz: Ending Sweeps Coins play on December 25 and moving to a Gold Coins–only model.
