  • Brian Christopher, also known as BCSlots, wrote a Facebook post about Virtual Gaming Worlds products in California
  • The post mentioned Dec. 30 as the day in which Sweeps Coins play goes away
  • It also mentioned Gold Coins play will remain

While we don't have official word from Virtual Gaming Worlds as to what their plans in California are regarding sweepstakes play with their sweepstakes casinos, we might have something that's as close to a statement from the company themselves.

On his Facebook page, Brian Christopher, also known as BCSlots, made a post that shed some light on the situation.

What BCSlots' Post Said

While we know that the sweepstakes play ban is coming on Jan. 1, 2026, several operators have had different plans for how to address it. Until now, the plan for Virtual Gaming Worlds, the operator that oversees platforms like Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, LuckyLand Casino, and Global Poker, hasn't been known.

Now, we may know. Here's what he wrote:

"Hi all,

"I wanted to share an important update with everyone here.

"New state legislation taking effect on 1 January 2026 means Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots and LuckyLand Casino will no longer be able to offer sweepstakes promotions in California. Starting 30 December 2025, California players won’t be able to collect or play using Sweeps Coins.

"Because my streams depend heavily on Sweeps play and I’m based in California, I won’t be able to feature these brands once the new rules come into effect. Gold Coin play stays available, but Sweeps Coin play must stop for all California accounts.

"In January, we will continue our videos in GC play only, on our BCSpins YouTube Channel.

"I can confirm that all impacted players will be emailed with the full information by Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots and LuckyLand Casino, and their support teams can help with any account-specific questions. I know this is a significant change, and I wanted to make sure everyone had the facts as soon as possible."

So based on this post, it looks like Dec. 30 is the start of when players won't be able to "collect or play" using Sweeps Coins.

However, it seems like VGW will keep those brands in California with Gold Coins play being acceptable.

The difference is that Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for cash prizes while Gold Coins have no redeemable cash value.

Plans for Other Brands

As the Jan. 1 date nears, here are the plans for other brands that we're aware of:

  • Stake.us: Pulling out of California entirely. The platform is also facing an active lawsuit in the state.

  • Modo.us: Operations will remain fully active through the end of the year. Beginning January 1, the site will transition to Gold Coins–only play.

  • Yellow Social Interactive Ltd.: Pulsz Casino and Pulsz Bingo will exit the California market by December 15.

  • WOW Vegas: Plans to continue operating in California until the regulatory deadline.

  • Legendz: Will end Sweeps Coins play on Dec. 25 and transition to Gold Coins-only play.
