In late March, a shooting occurred at Aliante Casino and Hotel in North Las Vegas, Nevada, that claimed the life of one. Now, the man accused of the shooting, Aerion Warmsley, 19, could potentially face death penalty charges.

The man he shot, Na’Onche Osborne, is the adopted son of former state Senator and candidate for mayor, Pat Spearman.

Following the shooting, Warmsley led police on a chase that involved multiple carjackings. He initially fled the scene in a stolen Mercedes and caused "the mass destruction of everything," per Deputy District Attorney Morgan Lombardo.

Spearman's family released a statement after that, which read,

“It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Senator Spearman’s beloved son. This is an unimaginable loss for the Senator and their family, and they are heartbroken.

“During this difficult time, the Senator and their family ask for privacy as they grieve and support one another. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and condolences from friends, colleagues, and the community.”

Details of What Happened

When this event first occurred, details were limited, but there was a shooting, and a section of the casino near the cashier cage was taped off.

Then, about 30 minutes after the shooting, police were called to an accident that involved the Mercedes Warmsley stole and fled the scene of the Aliante Casino and Hotel.

Later, they received a report of an armed carjacking. Warmsley left the first car in a fast-food lot, then stole the second car at gunpoint and was going about 105 miles per hour.

Warmsley then allegedly hit a bus stop and hurt two additional people, including one who was left with critical injuries.

Eventually, Warmsley stole a third vehicle, which police rammed and arrested him at about 9 am local time, approximately five hours after the Aliante scene.

Incredible Number Of Felonies

Now, Warmsley is facing a shocking number of felonies: 28 to be exact.

These include murder with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, multiple counts of robbery and burglary, coercion, battery, domestic battery, reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, and duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving death or injury.

He's also facing six federal counts, which include three counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, two counts of carjacking resulting in serious bodily injury, and one count of carjacking.

Now, according to Chief Deputy District Attorney Binu Palal, this case will be sent to the death review committee based on "aggravating factors."

Warmsley is back in court on July 3.
