More on the Partnership
The partnership was unveiled in London, a stop on Team Liquid’s World Tour route. The partnership will also involve a streaming campaign across Team Liquid’s content creators, which is set to begin on November 20.
There will also be in-game integrations that were designed by both parties.
“We are excited to partner with Team Liquid to mobilize their esports and digital communities to advocate and raise vital funds for the world’s most vulnerable children,” said Sebastien Lyon, Chief, Corporate Partnerships at PFP, UNICEF. “Together, we aim to inspire a generation of young people by engaging with them in spaces where they come together to play and connect, and empowering them to transform awareness into impact in support of every child. This partnership is a powerful step in uniting play and purpose.”
Team Liquid Co-CEO/Founder Speaks Out
With the announcement, Victor Goossens, the founder and co-CEO of Team Liquid, had this to say about the pact:
“As a teenager, gaming taught me about new cultures, helped me develop a work ethic, and gave me a goal to strive towards,” said Goossens. “Bringing these opportunities to young people is part of our mission, and we are honoured to represent UNICEF and work with them to support children worldwide in reaching their full potential.”
UNICEF dabbled with esports in the past, linking up with Fnatic in 2020 for the “Got Your Back” campaign, which included charity streams.
More Team Liquid Charitable Efforts
Team Liquid has a long history of working with charitable organizations, including IMC in 2021, where they co-hosted an event where various creators participated in a 24-hour stream to raise money for Room to Read, a non-profit organization.
During the Esports World Cup, Team Liquid wore various Pride jerseys, and the initiative raised money for various projects in those communities across North America, Europe, and Brazil.
