Key Takeaways

  • The 2026 CS2 competitive season is about to begin and XotiC has left the team
  • XotiC cited that balancing his competitive career while running multiple businesses prove to be a challenge
  • Joshua ‘oSee’ Ohm has replaced him on the active roster

Ahead of the 2026 Counter-Strike 2 competitive season, NRG has made a roster move with American player Zechrie ‘XotiC’ Elshani leaving the squad.

XotiC announced the move on X, citing issues with balancing his businesses while also being a competitive player for the team.

XotiC's X Statement

XotiC took to X to announce his departure, writing the following statement via the NRG CS2 account:

"After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to step down from the NRG CS2 team. Balancing competitive CS with running multiple businesses has become increasingly difficult, and trying to split my focus has ultimately meant neither gets the attention it deserves. It wouldn’t be fair to the team for me to continue when that spot could be filled by someone who can fully dedicate themselves to CS.

"I’m incredibly grateful to NRG for the opportunity. Getting to attend my first LAN, my first Major, and play alongside some insanely talented players is something I’ll always appreciate. Thank you to everyone at NRG for the support and trust. I wish the team nothing but success, and I’ll be cheering you all on moving forward. It’s truly been a pleasure."

Replacement Named

With XotiC leaving, Joshua ‘oSee’ Ohm is taking over his spot on the active roster. He spent the last five months on the bench. In July 2025, XotiC replaced oSee and helped NRG qualify for the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, their second of the year.

oSee has been with NRG for over two years and has also won multiple tier-two CS2 titles. Some of those include Fragadelphia 18 and ESL Challenger League Season 49: North America.

He'll be with NRG at Fragadelphia Miami 2 2026, which kicks off on Jan. 2 and goes through Jan. 4. That event will be live from the ROK ESports Center.

These moves come after, earlier this month, DarkZero Esports bought all NRG assets, though the team remains under the name. Also, DarkZero's Rainbow Six Siege squad will also compete under the NRG name.

Heading into 2026, NRG will hope to have better luck with tier-one events after doing well in tier-two in 2025.

Fan Reaction

In response to the statement on X, fans and onlookers voiced their opinions.

"Xotic's goated for proving himself on the toughest stages of CS but like what type of businesses and how many is he running all while playing pro CS," one fan said.

"Hope this isn't a retirement announcement from him cause that what it sounds like... Rip NA's only awp talent," someone else wrote.
