Key Takeaways

  • High 5 issued an update to its terms and conditions on July 2
  • The update included Arizona being added to its exclusionary/restricted area list
  • Starting July 23, players in Arizona can only access to social platform from High 5

High 5 Casino, one of the longest-running sweepstakes casinos on the market, has now added Arizona to its exclusionary list, restricting players from making purchases on the platform.

Starting on July 23, players in Arizona will only be able to play on the social casino site. The terms and conditions update doesn't mention a reason why specifically, but this comes after the state gambling regulators told players to avoid sweepstakes casinos.

The Terms and Conditions Update

On July 2, High 5 added the following clause to its terms and conditions:

“High 5 Casino regrets to announce that as of July 2, 2025, it will no longer be offering its game platform to participants located in the state. As of July 2, 2025, participants located in the state will no longer be able to register new accounts for High 5 Casino, and existing players will no longer be able to make purchases on the platform. Players with existing accounts will be able to continue to play and redeem sweeps coins until July 23, 2025. On or after July 23, 2025, all participants (whether a resident or a non-resident located in the state) will not be able to access the High 5 Casino while located in the state.”

This is the first time High 5 has voluntarily added a state to an exclusionary list since it withdrew from Maryland and West Virginia in February.

That same month, High 5 announced it would be leaving Pennsylvania. It's also completely shut down in Connecticut and paid the state gambling regulator $1.5 million following a settlement

High 5 utilizes XPoint technology, so players in those states will be unable to access any content that High 5 deems inaccessible.

Arizona Cautions Players Regarding Sweepstakes Casinos

In late January this year, the Arizona Department of Gaming issued a consumer advisory warning players of sweepstakes casinos, saying that “illegal online casinos and sweepstakes platforms” may “present themselves as legitimate platforms" and urged those to stay "vigilant and informed."

The advisory didn't mention sites by name, but it did refer to social and sweepstakes casinos as unlicensed operators.

Overall, Arizona hasn't come down as hard as other states.

For example, New Jersey recently passed legislation to ban them, and Montana led the way

We'll see if Arizona takes similar steps in the future.
