  • Ostrow used to be an executive at FanDuel
  • According to the SGLA, Ostrow brings a decade-plus of experience “advising leading entertainment, technology and gaming companies on legislative and regulatory strategy”

With the ever-evolving sweepstakes casino industry in full force, especially in 2025, the Social Gaming Leadership Alliance has named Sean Ostrow its new Managing Director.

Ostrow, according to the SGLA, “brings more than a decade of experience advising leading entertainment, technology, and gaming companies on legislative and regulatory strategy. He has led advocacy and government relations efforts in numerous state legislatures, shaping modern frameworks for emerging digital entertainment sectors.”

Ostrow’s New Role

In his role as managing director, Ostrow will “oversee SGLA’s lobbying and public policy initiatives, working with legislators, regulators and stakeholders to ensure the online social games with sweepstakes promotions sector continues to thrive responsibly.”

In this role, he’ll report to the SGLA Board of Directors and work with Executive Director Jeff Duncan.

“Sean brings a rare combination of deep policy expertise and on-the-ground advocacy experience that will be invaluable to our mission,” said Jeff Duncan, SGLA Executive Director and former Congressman. “His track record of building coalitions and navigating complex legislative environments will help the SGLA strengthen understanding of this industry and ensure responsible innovation continues to flourish.”

Ostrow’s Previous Work History

Before Ostrow landed with the SGLA, he had many prominent roles, including serving as a multi-state contract attorney and strategist with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. There, he led “policy initiatives” for the Sports Betting Alliance, where he also advised clients such as the MLB, NBA, and PGA Tour.

Ostrow also held the title of the Management of Government Affairs at FanDuel, where, according to a press release from the SGLA, “he was instrumental in securing the passage of fantasy sports legislation in multiple states, shaping new policy that balanced innovation with consumer protection.”

Ostrow Comments on the New Role

“Online social games with sweepstakes represent a creative, accessible, and thriving form of online entertainment, yet its story has been misunderstood,” said Sean Ostrow, SGLA Managing Director. “I’m honored to join the SGLA in advancing a fact-based conversation about this dynamic industry and in working with policymakers to ensure adults can continue to enjoy these games safely and responsibly.”
