Key Takeaways
- Foliatti and the Niners teamed up for the first time in 2023
- The deal is the first international sports betting partnership for an NFL team
- Foliatti will host the first “Weekend with the 49ers” in the summer of 2025
The San Francisco 49ers last Thursday announced a renewed collaboration with Mexico-based casino brand Foliatti Casino.
The NFL’s famed franchise agreed to a partnership extension one year after the two first struck a deal, which was the NFL’s first with an international casino.
The new deal represents the first international legalized sports betting deal for any NFL franchise. That’s despite sports betting still being illegal in the Niners’ home state of California.
Building an international audience
Foliatti Casino will host several 49ers events in Mexico, including fan experiences and alumni meet-ups, at its casinos as a result of the new partnership. It will also share content via the 49ers ESP digital and social media platforms.
In addition, Foliatti Casino will be able to utilize the 49ers’ branding to promote its sports betting operations throughout Mexico.
"Both the 49ers and Foliatti continue to break boundaries in our respective industries and we are thrilled to achieve this milestone partnership together," said Ryan Connors, the Niners’ Senior Director of Global Sales & Strategy. "This enhanced relationship gives our Spanish-speaking and Mexico-based Faithful a lot to look forward to this season through new and engaging content, both in-person and online."
Pamela Loman Huerta, Foliatti’s Online Operations Director, said the deal represents the casino company’s dedication to growing its entertainment offerings and allows it to continue growing its bond with a community of football fans.
"This is an achievement that reaffirms our commitment to sports and entertainment and drives us to continue innovating to offer unforgettable experiences for our users and passionate 49ers fans," said Huerta. "We want to thank all the 49ers fans who joined us last year, and whose enthusiasm and loyalty were crucial to the success of this partnership. We are excited for the upcoming season and for all the surprises we have in store for the Faithful."
Upcoming plans for the 49ers, Foliatti
Foliatti Casino last year became a hub for 49ers and NFL fans in Mexico. It hosted watch parties throughout the season, all the way up to the team’s appearance in the Super Bowl.
Foliatti will also host the first-ever “Weekend with the 49ers” in Monterrey in the summer of 2025. Details of the upcoming event are limited, but it will include a variety of engagement opportunities for fans.
Just like last year, Wasserman Latam and Arbol Media will head the sale and activation portions of the partnership.
The 49ers do not have a partnership deal with any American sportsbooks, including FanDuel, DraftKings, or BetMGM, among others.
San Francisco won the NFC Championship in 2023 thanks to a dramatic comeback from a 17-point halftime deficit against the Detroit Lions. They are second to the Kansas City Chiefs (+550) at +600 to win the upcoming Super Bowl, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
