Meet Michael Savio

Michael is a nearly 40-year-old writer and father of two from Denver. He fell in love with sports at a young age, and spent many breakfasts before school reading box scores and analysis from writers from the local paper.

He entered the world of sports betting when he turned 21. His grandfather lived in Las Vegas most of his life and taught him how to bet like a pro. This influence led him to pursue his dream of becoming a sports betting writer. While he offers betting advice for the NFL and MLB, his primary focus is covering the industry's never-ending news cycle.

When not writing about sports betting, Michael enjoys taking advantage of Colorado's natural beauty. He hikes, kayaks, skis, and anything else that gets him outdoors.

"While I now live in Colorado, I remain loyal to my hometown teams in Wisconsin, including the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. I also fell in love with the Ottawa Senators at a young age. However, none of those teams has given me the excitement I had watching the Arizona State Sun Devils (my alma mater) post their best season in 30 years."

Michael's Writing Philosophy

Michael targets the average reader when writing about sports betting. He takes pride in his work and spends hours ensuring every word he types is accurate and up-to-date. "Being in the world of sports betting has been a way of honoring my late grandfather. The old New Yorker relocated to Las Vegas when I was young, and passed his years of experience betting on sports to me. My pursuit of this profession was to honor his memory, and it has kept me connected to him long after he passed."

Q&A with Michael Savio

I enjoy betting on several sports, but hockey has become my favorite. Betting on puck lines and totals can be stressful, but there is plenty of money to be made.

While many new bettors are looking for tips on increasing their winnings, that’s not the first question they should ask. The top tip I always give new bettors is to set a budget before placing a bet. Responsible gaming keeps people safe and makes the experience far less stressful.

Growing up in the Milwaukee area gave me three pro teams to cheer for, but none from the NHL. Regional rivalries from other sports made it hard for Chicago, Detroit, or Minnesota to jump on the bandwagon. That led me to look north, where I found my love for the Sens.

Attending the 2017 Wild Card matchup between the Giants and Packers at Lambeau Field. It was freezing cold by the time the game kicked off, with a temperature of 8℉. The Packers dominated, and I managed to avoid frostbite!

I start each day by searching the latest news on Google before checking on a few reliable sites. I also subscribe to newsletters from some of the top writers in the industry.
