Botswana is probably better known for its buffalo than its blackjack but that doesn’t mean you can’t track down and hunt out a different type of game in this beautiful South African country.
The Gaborone Sun is part of the Sun International Group which has nearly 30 hotels and 12 casinos on its portfolio. The well-appointed hotel is modern but has a colonial feel.
The casino is modest but professional and the slots are open 24 hours a day. Table games include blackjack and roulette and the action continues into the night. For high rollers taking a break from the safari, there is a Salon Prive where the staff will endeavour to meet your demands.
There are several dining options, including the pool side conservatory, the Savuti grill (carvery buffet for lunch and dinner), and Mahogany’s – the Gaborone’s highly regarded a la carte restaurant.
Drinks options in the casino are good: the Slots Cocktail Lounge does what is says on the box and the Casino Bar and the Casino Walk-Up Bar give players plenty of choice for either sorrow drowning or celebration.
If it all gets too much on the plains of the Kalihari and the elusive black rhino is a no show, at least you know you can enjoy a night at the tables in the capable hands of the Gaborone Sun Casino.
The hotel is about 20 minutes away from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. The hotel can assist you with travel arrangements.
