The Casino Lisboa opened in April 2006 and is one of the most modern casinos in Europe. It’s relaxed vibe extends to its dress code and free admission. Smokers can also satisfy their cravings at this casino.
The casino occupies the space which belonged to the Pavilion of the Future - built for the World Expo in 1998.
Although 20 minutes out of the city centre, the Casino Lisboa is surrounded by bars and restaurants and has its own auditorium, as well as a three ring rotating terrace called the Arena Bar.
The casino has a huge number of slots and all the table game action you need. On offer are all the usual suspects, as well as Banca Francesa – a very popular Portuguese dice game.
The game is played with three dice. The total of the three dice is added up. You bet Big (14,15,16) or Small (5,6,7) or Aces (total of three: all dice are one point). Big and Small bets pay even money, Aces pays 60 - 1. It’s fun. Check it out.
Until recently, the casino didn’t offer live poker. It now appears that weekly tournaments are in play.
With four bars, a buffet, café, and the Hua Ta Li Chinese restaurant, food and drink options hit the spot. You can always wander into the surrounding complex to broaden your gastronomic horizons.
It’s a cool, classy, casino in one of Europe’s oldest cities (second only to Athens) and when the gambling gets too much, you can cool off next door in one of the world’s largest aquariums. Dive in.
The casino is located near the Tagus River in the Nations Park, just a few minutes drive from Lisbon International Airport. There are various public transport options and car parking is available at the casino.
