It’s fair to say that you are unlikely to just come across the Aseneskak Casino close to The Pas, in Manitoba. North of the casino are thousands of lakes, polar bears, moose, and not much else. It’s a wilderness all the way to the North Pole.
The Aseneskak Casino is on land owned by the Opaskwayak Cree nation. The 20,000 sq ft venue not only houses nearly 200 state-of-the-art slots it also serves as a hub for the community with a restaurant and lounge, as well as an art gallery and gift shop.
Although a relatively modest casino, a lively roster of entertainment events and special promotions keep the action fresh and interesting. There are three Seniors’ Days every week, as well as Texas holdem tournaments and a popular ladies’ nights.
The casino restaurant also serves up specials – from hot wings on a Thursday to ‘Bud, Spud and Steak’ every Saturday. There’s something different to enjoy every day.
If you are looking for some genuinely old school gaming, the Aseneskak Casino is worth the trip. Where else could you talk polar beer hunting, buy some furs, and play a hand of blackjack at the same time?
The casino is located on Highway 10 north of the Pas, in the Opaskwayak community. There are billboards advertising the casino. Parking is not a problem and RVs are welcome. It’s a long way from anywhere here.
