The WikiLeaks explosion on the world these past few weeks has been snowballing into different fields worldwide. Since Julian Assange, WikiLeaks founder, was arrested, online banks have been under attack as operation payback is attacking all around. This is a big issue as it is and the timing couldn’t come in a worse setting since Christmas and New Years are around the corner. This is the biggest shopping time of the year and online shoppers are reporting more and more difficulties with transactions online. Naturally, even wagering at an online casino is a gamble in its self as Operation Payback has been spreading even in this area.
Operation Payback has caused a lot of havoc amongst online merchants such as MasterCard and Visa thus making the world more focused on the big WikiLeaks story.
Online Gambling sites, Sport bet sites and online casinos who use PayPal methods have also reported some kind of interruption with transaction in credit card use.
This disruption Operation Payback has caused is a big concern to the casino business online as this time of year is the time were not only online casinos offering their best offers but also a time where players love to play casino games online and maybe even win real money towards the big expenses they have during this season. Hopefully, all this mess caused to online merchants and the online casino field will blow over before any more important upcoming events.

The Gene variant MAOA-L or the so called “Warrior Gene” was found to help carriers make the optimal choice when faced with a winning hand. By research, it is believed to give gene carriers better judgment when confronted with financial risk such as they would have like in an online casino rather than make them prone to impulsive decisions.
Previous studies suggested that this gene is linked to risky behavior thus making carriers of MAOA-L more likely to lash out when provoked or to be more prone to aggression when raised in high-stress environments.
The new study, led by Cary Frydman at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, did more than just examine whether MAOA-L was associated with risky behavior. Frydman says the approach, was designed to “shed some light on the potential mechanisms in the brain which risk-taking passes through”. In order to accomplish that, his team analyzed the genes of 83 men between the ages of 19 and 27 from different ethnic backgrounds, focusing on three gene variations, one of them being the MAOL-L gene.
The subjects did a financial decision-making exercise 140 times, choosing between a sure option (100% odds of ending up with $0, for example) or a gamble such as to play casino games or (a 50–50 chance of gaining $7 or losing $4, for example).
But when Frydman and his team analyzed their subjects’ choices in the ‘value’ model, they noted another trend: when faced with a potentially winning gamble, subjects carrying MAOA-L made the optimal choice more often than those with MAOA-H. So those with the ‘warrior gene’ weren’t making risky financial decisions because they were rash, but because they were adept at rooting out the better choice.
So next time you are at the doctor’s office, ask if you ca be tested whether or not you are carrying the MAOA-L gene. You could have a biologic-scientific advantage at an online casino playing online casino games.

Larry Evans, blackjack and chess grandmaster extraordinaire, passed away at 78 in Nevada. Larry who’s gaming skills excelled in both chess and blackjack was a rare type of gamer, not only did he conquer the title of Chess Grandmaster in the height of his career winning or sharing the U.S Chess Championship 5 times and the U.S Open championships 4 times but also he wrote a long-running syndicated chess column and wrote or co-wrote more than 20 books on chess thus becoming the U.S. State Department’s “chess ambassador”.
This would be an accomplishment of a life time on its own but Larry was also a blackjack card counter. His great logic and mathematical gaming mind made him excel in counting blackjack cards way back in 1968 before card counting came into fashion refining his memory and making some extra cash playing blackjack at Reno casinos.
There are only so many “moves” in blackjack that can be memorized, it’s not like chess openings, there are number of hands are possible before the player exceeds 21 or better known as ‘going bust’. Also, by tracking the number of “ten cards” that remain in the deck, players can decide on whether to raise their bets or not. With blackjack online it is impossible to card count as there is a random card regenerator system.
Not like chess, blackjack cards counters don’t have much more of a career once fame is achieved. They are doomed to casinos banning their entry and placed on black lists. This was the case of Evans; he was banned from all the Las Vegas casinos and even in the world.
Larry died last month from gallbladder surgery complications in a hospital in Reno, Nevada.

After a long contemplation, Sources say that Denmark will be delaying the introduction of its online casino industry to the rest of the world. The monopoly held on the Danish gambling industry began to dismantle due to pressure from the European Commission which demanded to free up the system.
Until now, any online casino company which tried entering the gambling market in Denmark had to go through a scrutinizing process, delays and a sea of uncertainty. Gaming license applicants were asked to cease their activity for a “cooling” for a 6 month period or until the estimated Jan 1st 2011. This is believed to have been requested in order to give Dansk Spil, Danish state monopoly, a head start and advantage on any other online gaming company in the Danish market.
Now the date given to open casino games to the Danish gambling market by the Danish Gambling Board has been postponed to somewhere during the summer of 2011 as complaints concerning the proposed tax rates have been filed with the European commission.
The original intention of the law proposed consists of flat rate of 20 percent on the gross win on all products offered. In addition to the tax there is an annual fee which can start at €7,000 and reach €200,000, based on the level of gross win. The statutory standstill period for the European Commission to review the draft law ended on October 11th, during which time the complaint over tax rates was filed, thus postponing the process even longer.
Troels Lund Poulsen, Danish minister of taxation stated he would go to the European Commission’s headquarters in Brussels as soon as possible to resolve the pending tax problem and that he thinks that the Danish draft legislation, including tax rates, were in accordance with EU law. Though online gaming applicants are weary, they are still eager to enter this fast growing market and will just have to wait patiently.

Harry Reid, Senator Majority of the Nevada district, is going forward with his ‘lame-duck’ legislation to get online poker legalized in the US. Nevada’s home state casino operators have been eager for some time now to get on board of the online gaming industry, an estimated $5 billion for off-shore operators per year or as Reid says it “I say it’s about time”
The merits of online casino games were debated by the House already earlier this year and the Poker players Alliance has been working extremely hard proving that poker has integrated as part of mainstream culture. District of Massachusetts Representative, Barney Frank has been reported of saying “We are not talking about an activity that harms others where we properly step in”,”. “We are talking about a decision by adults to do what they want with their own money.”
A joint statement about the proposed poker legislation was put out by a group of Republican leaders stating “congress should not take advantage of the young, the weak and the vulnerable in the name of new revenues to cover more government spending.” When a group of citizens were asked what they think of the republicans stand, Judy Sanders, mother of 3, responded ” This is foreseen as yet another hypocritical step on the lives of Americans, Congress needs to stop legislating morality. Does online gaming need regulation? Of course, just as brick-and-mortar casinos do; just as other potentially harmful vices like alcohol do; just as many businesses do.”
Rafael Granados, local business owner, said “prohibition is foolish. Families will not crumble with the mere legalization of online gaming. Online gaming provides another entertainment outlet for adults — and a revenue stream for our government”
This dispute is an ongoing struggle the US has been facing for many years now since online casinos took over most of the gambling scene. Despite this Americans still found and will find ways to bet online, sending, millions of untold dollars are sent to offshore companies. Not only would making online poker legal funnel that money stateside, but legalization helps regulate the industry and protect American consumers.

Cyprus: Legislators have proposed a bill to the EU which bans all form of online gambling besides sports bets. As the EU law prohibits EU nations to have any restrictions on the exchange of services between and among them, the government of Cyprus has to request the European Commission for special permission to enforce the intra-national online gambling ban.
Cyprus’ legislators are using a similar voice of reasoning that was used by Portugal in 2009. Portugal’s case was brought upon the European Court of Justice defending itself form allegations that the proposal of an anti-online gambling legislation was a plot of a government monopoly and that instead, would help to help fight criminal abuse and prevention of fraud by operators.
Petros Clerides, Cyprus’ Attorney General, has stated that the ban on roulette, slot machines and poker is “in the public interest”, and that
“It is intended to combat criminality and to protect the consumer,” He backed his claims by supporting the ECJ’s findings in favor of Portugal as rightness.
Although the legislation proposal forbids online casino games like online roulette and online slots, it will still leave room to allow internet sports betting and the provision of licenses for retail outlets.
In addition to this proposal there are a few more rules and regulations requested such as:
1. Creating a ‘Gaming board’ which will regulate all online gaming in Cyprus.
2. issuing of licenses to operators who pay government taxes based on turnover, versus profit
3. Bans on cash bets and to apply an exclusive use of credit cards and e-wallets in order to track transactions and monitor tax
4. a bank guarantee, submitted by lawmakers, to ensure that players receive their winnings
5. harsh consequences, such as shut down, on all who fail to pay due taxes on time
This attempt to change gambling laws failed back in 2004 when Cyprus’ Finance Ministry hired a team of international consultants to draft a law that would regulate online gambling. This was due to suspicions that the authors were prejudiced by their interests in gambling, the project was abandoned.
Finance Minister Charilaos Stavrakis estimated that Cyprus’ economy suffered an annual loss of 2.5 billion Euro as a result of unlawful land-based and online casino activities in March of 2009.

Poker players, online casino fans, online poker players and gaming sports memorabilia collectors as one are being offered a chance of a life time to bid on Ebay for the 1999 $1500 Razz World Series of Poker (WSOP) winners bracelet won by, Paul ‘Eskimo’ Clark. One of 3 bracelets won buy this veteran player.
This is the second piece of WSOP sporting history which is offered for auction this year. On November 25th 20101, the WSOP main event champion bracelet which was won in 2008 by Peter Eastgate, former Danish professional poker player, is being auctioned off by EBay with proceeds going to the UNICEF charity foundation. The bidding is said to end on Dec 1st, 10am LA time and current bids stand at $147.500. Eastgate claimed the bracelet was just lying around in a drawer collecting dust and that he would never wear it thus making the heroic choice of donating it to a higher cause.
Eskimo Clark’s gold bracelet is fairly simple version of a WSOP winner’s bracelet nowadays being only gold and engraves with ‘WSOP’. This feature clearly isn’t as ‘razzle dazzle’ as Eastgate’s bracelet which has 291 diamonds encrusted in it reading ‘World Series of Poker 1999′ proudly. A rough estimate on Clark’s 117.1 grams of gold bracelet in melt down terms will make approximately $5000, making it a sought after yet not a big expense item which most casino fans can afford.
Clark’s auction is in early stages with around 8 more days of bidding. The bidding starts at $1000 which got 2 bidders going for it with 6 bids in total. The current price stands at $2080 and the item does have a reserve on it which has not been met yet. If the bracelet does not meet its reserve price by the end date, the seller (susceptibly not Clark as believed to be sold previously) will redraw his item and will have to make the decision whether to try again or keep one of poker great memorabilia’s. Who knows? Maybe even an online casino or player might be the winner?

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s the perfect time for people to look at what they have and be grateful. Of course family, friends and good health are the most important, but if you like to play casino games, then this is one more thing you can be grateful for at this time of year. Here is a list of the top casino things to appreciate now.
There are casinos online that are giving away freebies for online slots lovers. This means that you get a chance to win cash without putting any down. There are also some online casinos that are doubling your play money. For example, after you have played $10, the casino will match your amount with an additional free $10 on the slots machine.
Progressive slots are another great thing to be thankful for. Although the odds are stacked against you, progressive slots give the player an opportunity to become a multi-millionaire with only a small wager. As long as a casino player can stick to a budget, he should take a chance at a large progressive jackpot.
Loyalty programs are also available to online casino players. It gives regular players a chance to become real winners. If you build up your credits playing online, you can cash them in for money and prizes.
Online poker has changed the way people play poker today. Players can join more than one poker room at a time and play against people from virtually all over the world. Poker Tournaments are a great option as well. You can play turbo sit-n-goes or hour long tournaments, whichever fits your style.
Of course one of the best features of playing online is that you can stay home and play anytime you want. There is no travel time or expense and there is no dress code when you play at home on your couch. And that’s just one more thing to be thankful for when you play casino games online.
