A man pleaded guilty to armed robbery after being accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from casinos across the country with a loaded handgun.
Lapp, a 37 year old, was accused of armed robbery in four instances between July and October, 2009. He pleaded guilty to robbing the four different casinos during those four months with a .357 revolver and is facing a sentence of 25 years in prison.
Starting with a casino in Great Falls, Lapp forced an attendant into the bathroom and told her to count to 100 while he stole close to $10,000 in cash and left the casino. Just weeks after that, Lapp robbed another casino in a similar manner. A few months after that he targeted two more casinos, only this time, he purchased a beer with identification at the casino before committing the crime. The attendant was then able to recall the robbers’ last name and help authorities identify him as the thief later on.
After tracking Lapp down, police found much of the cash and the revolver in Lapp’s home. Lapp was convicted of criminal possession of dangerous drugs in the past and now awaits trial this coming November.
